The Modern Synagogue of the Memorial is a contemporary Jewish worship and interpretation space inside the Memorial e Centro de Documentação Bragança Sefardita. It is not a preserved historical synagogue, nor proof of an uninterrupted Jewish community on this specific site.

Its role is to make the religious dimension of Jewish life visible within the Memorial. Through the presence of a synagogue space, visitors are introduced to prayer, Torah, community, ritual practice, and the Jewish calendar. In this context, the space helps reconnect Sephardic memory with forms of Jewish practice that were long disrupted in Bragança by forced conversion, secrecy, crypto-Judaism, and the Inquisition.

The value of the Modern Synagogue of the Memorial is therefore symbolic, educational, and religious. It gives contemporary form to Jewish memory without confusing representation with historical continuity.
